Tonight is the opening of the 37th Frameline festival (SF International LGBT Film Festival). This year I pre-screened and wrote program notes for a number of Frameline films--something I was never able to find time for while running the SF Jewish Film Festival, which always comes on the heels of Frameline. So do check out these films (and film notes!) in particular:
In the Name Of
Interior. Leather Bar.
Gore Vidal: The United States of Amnesia
The New Black
It's All So Quiet
I'm also excited to see a few docs that are having their local premiere at Frameline...maybe I will see you at ...
Big Joy: The Adventures of James Broughton
I am Divine
I also have it on good authority that the drama Test -- set in San Francisco's dance world of the 1980's -- features a fleeting cameo by a certain playwright/performer in whose career I have a special interest. I will be watching for his wordless, but no doubt thrilling, appearance.
