Film Festivals
Leadership and Programming

San Francisco Jewish Film Festival

Executive Director
I had the great pleasure of being the Executive Director of the oldest and largest Jewish film festival in the world, and diving deeply into the exhibition and programming side of the independent film world. During my eight years running this non-profit organization, we showcased more than 500 films in the annual festival and in a growing slate of year-round programs. We launched an online shorts program that generated more than 1 million views in its first year. And we were named by IndieWire as one of the top 50 film festivals in the world.

Frameline (San Francisco International LGBTQ+ Film Festival)

Senior Programmer

In 2014, for the 38th edition of Frameline (the world's longest-running and still largest LGBTQ+ film festival), I joined the programming team as we curated 214 films from 31 countries. Especially exciting: a spotlight on LGBT films from Russia, made under increasingly risky conditions; and a set of panels and screenings, supported by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (the Oscars® people), on new directions in LGBT storytelling, including innovative approaches to gay history and biography, a subject close to my heart. My programming and presenting roles have continued for the next seven festivals, including virtual and hybrid editions in 2020-21 attracting nationwide attendance of 89,000.
